4 Strategies to Trade
Nifty 500 Like a Pro

Swing trading is about patience and precision — catching high-probability moves over 2–10 days. This guide breaks down four battle-tested setups with an interactive scanner that finds live trade ideas from the Nifty 500 universe.

Strategies That Work

Each strategy exploits a different market behaviour. Master all four and you'll have an edge in trending, ranging, and volatile markets.

STRATEGY 01

Trend Pullback

Identify a stock in a clear uptrend — price above its 20 EMA and 50 EMA. Wait for a minor pullback to the 20 EMA or a horizontal support level. Enter when bullish momentum resumes (engulfing candle, RSI hook up from 40–50).

STRATEGY 02

Volume Breakout

Wait for a stock to break through a well-established resistance (or support for shorts) with volume at least 1.5× its 20-day average. Enter only after a confirmed daily close above the level — avoid false breakouts.

BUY & SELL · Momentum
STRATEGY 03

Mean Reversion

Stocks that are deeply oversold (RSI <25) or overbought (RSI >75) tend to snap back. Wait for exhaustion signs — doji, volume capitulation — then enter expecting a move back to the 20-day moving average.

STRATEGY 04

Liquidity Sweep

Institutions hunt stop-losses around key levels. Price briefly pierces support/resistance, triggers stops, then reverses sharply back inside the range. Enter on the reversal close — a powerful, low-risk setup when timed correctly.

Stop hunt · Institutional play

Rules Before Entries

No strategy works without discipline. These two rules protect your capital above everything else.

THE 2% RULE

Never risk more than 2% of your total account equity on any single trade. On a ₹5 lakh account, maximum loss per trade = ₹10,000. Position size = ₹10,000 ÷ (Entry − Stop).

PRE-PLANNED EXITS

Define your stop-loss and profit target before you enter. Never move your stop deeper after entry. Book partial profits at 1R, let the rest ride to 2R–3R with a trailing stop.

MINIMUM R:R RATIO

Only take trades where the reward is at least 2× the risk. If your stop is ₹20 away, your target must be ₹40+ away. Skip anything below 2:1 — the math doesn't work long-term.

TREND CONFIRMATION

Always trade in the direction of the broader Nifty 500 trend. Avoid counter-trend mean reversion trades when the index is in a strong directional move. Confluence wins.
